The South Platte near the town of Deckers is fishing fantastic thanks to a bump in flows coming out of Cheesman Reservoir. With Denver Water’s decision to turn off the Roberts Tunnel, (this supplies the North Fork of the South Platte with water) I anticipate the flows coming out of Cheesman will stay up which will keep the fish near Deckers happy and active! The famous big midges were hatching yesterday as were a few blue winged olives. The appearance of this bug always signifies the start of spring for me! Miracle midges, black beauties, and small RS2’s are all producing. Give us a call if you want one of our professional fly fishing guides to show you around this famous tailwater just a short drive from Denver or Colorado Springs.
