May 25, 2012 Lake fishing update

Warm weather in Colorado has sparked some excellent fishing this season. The rivers and lakes are HOT! Today we focused on the lakes.

The South Park Reservoirs are looking great. Watch for large midge and chronomidge hatches (morning midge hatch is best, late morning Callibaetis hatch gets rolling). We have even seen early damsels.  Weeds may be an issue early this season, but target weed edges, especially when the Callibaetis are around.  Static rigs with suspended nymphs have been consistent.

We offer guided fishing not only on the major South Park Reservoirs but also on a variety of other private still waters that offer our anglers a chance to get away from other anglers and experience some exceptional still water action.

In trout news:
Caddis and stoneflies have been producing well on the streams and rivers. Last week a client landed the largest fish of the season!

Different areas are producing excellent success for a variety of species, and we are happy to move you around to put you on the best fishing possible.

For those anglers wanting to hit Rocky Mountain National Park, this is a good time to do it! Low snow pack will probably make fishing in the park a bit challenging late season.
