Report:
The fly fishing on Tarryall Creek was extremely productive today!. We brought fish into the net that numbered well into double digits by
lunch time, including many large rainbows in the deep pools and swift runs and lots of browns in the pocket-water in between. Fish were
taken on both nymph and dry dropper rigs. There were prolific hatches throughout the day with Caddis, Baetis, Stoneflies, Little Yellow Sallies, and even a few large Drakes. The fish were keying in on Stonefly and Caddis nymphs. All fish were hard-fighting and many of the browns gave us a show by shooting out of the water. Towards the end of the day we stumbled on a run that had a few Pike sitting in slow water and after two missed attempts, we finally hooked up and brought a nice pike to the net. (See photo below)
In other fishing news:
The water has come down on the South Platte and all the tributaries where we fish. The weather has been cooperative and the fish have
been healthy, plentiful, and in great shape going into the summer. We have full reservoirs and have been getting some late afternoon
rains that will help keep stream flows up and water temps down. Things are shaping up to be a great summer for Colorado fly fishing on the South Platte.
